Frameless vs Frame Shower Doors

When deciding between shower door types on your bathroom remodel, the overall impact of the style and decor of your bathroom can change when you choose a Frameless or Frame shower door.

Traditional framed shower doors relied on metal frames for the structural support of your shower doors.  Frameless shower doors will eliminate the metal frames and instead use thicker glass and heavy hardware.  It really will depend on the look that you want for your new bathroom.

Frameless shower doors rely on heavy-duty glass and special pivots for structural support. Most frameless shower doors will be free of metal around the operable part of the partition, but some may have a metal frame or tracks along other parts like the bottom or edges. Shower doors with metal on any part of the structure can sometimes be called semi-frameless shower doors.

Framed Shower Doors

Framed shower doors usually feature aluminum or composite frames surrounding sheets of tempered or textured glass.  The metal on a framed shower surrounds the operable part of the partition and other parts of the enclosure, such as the top, bottom, sides and joints.
